Lake Mead Marina is the perfect destination for any Las Vegas resident or visitor, who enjoys boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, kite surfing and other recreational watersports.
Lake Mead is the largest manmade reservoir in the country. The body of water is two times bigger than Rhode Island and features more than 550 miles of shoreline.
Lake Mead Marina is the oldest marina on the lake. Drought conditions and low water levels have forced the marina to change locations several times over the decades. In 2008, the Gripentog family purchased the marina. In that same year, the marina made its most recent move from Boulder Harbor to its present location in Horsepower Cove. There, the marina merged with Las Vegas Boat Harbor, which the Gripentog family has owned and operated since 1957.
With two restaurants, two general stores, dry storage space for more than 350 vessels and nearly 1500 wet slips, Lake Mead Marina is now the largest inland marina facility on the planet.
Boating is the biggest draw to the marina with plenty of room for motorboats, personal watercraft, kayaks and canoes to share the water. Brisk desert winds also make this a popular place for sailboating, sailboarding and kite surfing.
Fishing is another popular pastime for visitors to the lake. The Colorado River, Lake Mohave and Lake Mead are all within the boundaries of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Here, avid anglers can fish for more than a dozen species, including catfish, trout, bluegill, crappie and bass.
Clear water and water temperatures in the 80s during the summer months make Lake Mead a great place for SCUBA divers to explore the world below the surface.
Whether you live in Las Vegas or you are just passing through, Lake Mead Marina offers the perfect place to get your feet wet.
